Who's Who? Profile: Tim Wright

What is Who's Who? This weekly feature highlights the leaders in our School District. We will share who we are and what we do, so our community can get to know us better.

Tim Wright, Dundee Elementary Principal

Three of your main daily tasks:

  • Supporting students and staff members
  • Encouraging students while visiting classrooms and other learning spaces.
  • Responding to the unique challenges and events that each day in an elementary school brings

One long-term project: Opening our new school building next year has been a long-term project I am excited to see coming to fruition. It is fun to watch the construction and to have meetings transition from planning to logistics. Facilitating the move, opening the building, and building systems that help us have a smooth transition to our new space is the next big phase.

Your main goal: To foster an environment where students are challenged and supported in their pursuit of excellence.

Experience: I began teaching in 2005. I taught secondary health and PE for three years in California. I have been part of the Newberg-Dundee School District since 2008; I spent 12 years teaching PE and one teaching English Language Development in Newberg-Dundee schools before transitioning into an administrative role last year. This is my second year as Principal at Dundee Elementary.

Education (optional):

  • Vanguard University, Bachelor of Science: Exercise and Sports Science
  • Vanguard University, Master of Education
  • George Fox University, Principal Licensure Program

Skills/Hobbies: I enjoy outdoor activities. Some of my current favorites are fly fishing, skiing, and wake surfing.

Volunteering: President of Newberg Youth Baseball, Coach for Youth Sports (flag football, basketball, baseball), and Elder Board member and Sunday School Teacher at Northside Community Church.

Memberships: Coalition of Oregon School Administrators

Family: My wife, Jenny, is a fifth-grade teacher in Sherwood. I have two boys, Graydon, 11, fifth grade; and Everett, 9, third grade. Both attend Dundee Elementary.
