What a fun Friday with Halloween, Silly Sock Day and High Five Friday all in one! Please be safe this evening if you head out to trick-or-treat. Don't forget to set your clocks back an hour this Sunday for Daylight Savings time.

If your child walks or bikes to school in the morning, please consider getting them a flashing LED light for their backpack. Or something to help increase visibility. It is dark in the morning and when it is also raining, it is very difficult for walkers and bikers to be seen.

Please read through the information below as we have some fun events coming up!

Couple of school safety reminders:

Please do not drive or park in the bus lane.
When crossing the bus lane, please look both ways.
Please keep your furry friends at home or in the car at drop off and pick up.

Families-

Morning drop-off is different from afternoon pickup. We don't have staff members directing traffic so we need to make sure that if you are dropping a student off you only do so in the green lane in the photo below. Please do not let students out of the car unless they are curbside. Releasing your student from the var and having them cross the parking lot is not safe. Please make sure you and your students only get out at the curb.

Visitors at Lunch

Communicate the date with your student's teacher. They will make sure the office knows to expect your arrival. If it is not pre-arranged with the classroom teacher, and communicated to the office ahead of time, we may not be able to accommodate.
Arrive only for the lunch period of your student.
Check in and out at the front office.

We will not be able to have parents or families at recess, so be sure to walk back to the front office and check out after the lunch period.

Friday Food Bag

Edwards Elementary is pleased to partner with Newberg FISH to welcome eligible Edwards School students the free "Friday Food Program".

If you would like your student to receive a "Friday Food Bag" we have forms in the office to complete.

Important Repeat Information:

Regular attendance fosters consistency, which is vital for academic success and social development. It helps students stay engaged, build routines, and develop time management skills essential for future endeavors. Additionally consistent attendance ensures that students don't miss out on valuable learning opportunities, such as classroom discussions, hands on activities and interactions with peers and teachers.

As the weather can change rapidly this time of year, it's important that students come prepared with layered clothing to stay comfortable throughout the day. Layers allow for easy adjustments as temperatures fluctuate. We also encourage families to label all clothing, including jackets, sweaters, and hats, to help prevent lost items. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping students warm and organized!
